A six-week self-directed project to design a social media platform for artists. Deliverables consist of a clickable prototype for a mobile app, a brand identity, and physical and digital shareables.
As a social media user since middle school, I've witnessed the changes these platforms have gone through, and felt and seen my peers feel the effects of social media induced comparison long before formal research was published. Today, there is fortunately much more information surrounding the effects of social media on mental health than when I was growing up online. However, much of the research (understandably) surrounds their effects on the general population of users who use social media casually. In my capstone, I focused specifically on addressing the needs of a demographic my friends and I are a part of: visual artists.
Iter’s target audience is composed of young artists who use social media to share their works as well as people who use social media to view art. These audiences normally interact on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and/or TikTok. The artist audience may also be familiar with artist specific platforms such as Artstation and Deviantart. They might also use tools such as Pinterest to find inspiration for artwork.
